13 Suspected Bangladeshi Nationals, Including Three Children, Detained in Gwalior

Police in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior have detained 13 people, including three children, on suspicion of being Bangladeshi nationals living in India without valid documents. The action was taken on Tuesday after police received a tip about suspicious residents staying in different parts of the city.

According to officials, the group includes seven men, three women and three children. They were found living in rented houses at different locations in Gwalior. Police said a special verification drive was launched, and the suspects were taken into custody for questioning while their identity and citizenship records are checked.

Gwalior Senior Superintendent of Police Dharamveer Singh said officials are verifying all documents submitted by the detainees. "If the investigation confirms that they are Bangladeshi citizens staying illegally in India, legal action will be taken," he said.

Police and intelligence agencies are now trying to find out when and how they entered India, how long they have been living in Gwalior, and whether they received help in renting houses or obtaining identity papers. Investigators are also checking if the group has any links to a larger network involved in illegal migration or forged documents.

Officials have not yet confirmed the nationality of the detainees, stressing that the verification process is still underway. Further legal action will depend on the outcome of the investigation. The operation is part of a wider crackdown across several states to identify people suspected of staying in India without valid immigration documents.
