13 Years of Bangtan: BTS Defies the Odds and Fills the World With Purple Magic

Thirteen years ago, seven young men from a small Seoul agency stepped onto a stage and quietly began changing the world. Today, BTS RM , Jin , Suga , j-hope , Jimin , V , and Jungkook celebrate their 13th debut anniversary , and the celebration is everything ARMY deserves.

From Underdogs to Icons

BTS debuted on June 13, 2013 with 2 Cool 4 Skool under Big Hit Entertainment , a struggling label that dared to bet on hip-hop-inspired authenticity in a K-pop landscape built on polish. The skeptics were loud and eventually wrong. By 2017, BTS became the first K-pop act to win Top Social Artist at the Billboard Music Awards . In 2018, Love Yourself: Tear became the first K-pop album to top the Billboard 200. Then Dynamite (2020) became the first K-pop song to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, a record once considered untouchable. Five Grammy nominations , a UN address , a White House visit , and TIME's Entertainer of the Year later , BTS had rewritten what was possible for Korean artists globally.

The Return

After completing mandatory military service with their 2022 Yet to Come in Busan free concert serving as an emotional farewell all seven members reunited and returned with a bang. Their fifth studio album ARIRANG topped both the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 simultaneously in March 2026, launching the most extensive world tour ever by a Korean artist: 85 shows across 34 cities in 23 countries .

The Busan Homecoming

On June 12-13, BTS performed at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium, the very venue of their 2022 farewell for the first time in nearly four years. The June 13 show, falling precisely on their debut anniversary, was broadcast live to cinemas worldwide.

New Music: "Come Over" & "Merry Go Round" MV

Dropped on June 12 as a FESTA gift , Come Over co-produced by Suga, with RM and j-hope on songwriting credits is a stadium-sized anthem of longing and reconnection, described by BIGHIT MUSIC as capturing emotions of "a heart that inevitably seeks 'you' in every moment of feeling lost." Adding to the celebrations, Spotify announced an exclusive music video for Merry Go Round , a Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) collaboration from ARIRANG dropping June 19, visually exploring life's endless cycles through the metaphor of a spinning carousel.
