15 Tribal Villages Cut Off After Temporary Bridge Washed Away in ASR District

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has directed officials to take immediate precautionary measures in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, where heavy rains over the past two days have disrupted road connectivity and affected several tribal villages.

Reviewing the rain situation with the district Collector and senior officials of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development departments, Pawan Kalyan stressed that protecting lives should remain the administration’s top priority as streams and rivulets continue to swell.

Officials informed him that a temporary bridge near Gangavaram in G.K. Veedhi mandal, along the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha border, was washed away following a strong flood flow. The damage has cut off road connectivity to around 15 tribal villages, leaving residents dependent on alternative routes and arrangements.

Pawan Kalyan asked officials to continuously monitor the affected areas and explore immediate alternatives to restore essential connectivity. He also directed authorities to widely communicate advisories asking people to avoid unnecessary travel until the rains subside.

The Deputy Chief Minister ordered officials to issue advance warnings in vulnerable areas and evacuate residents to safer locations wherever necessary. He also instructed the administration to establish relief camps wherever required, ensuring the availability of food, drinking water, medical assistance and other essential facilities.

He called for particular attention to tribal habitations and directed the district administration and emergency response teams to remain fully prepared to deal with any worsening of the situation.

Officials in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Parvathipuram Manyam and Anakapalli districts have also been alerted in view of the forecast of heavy rainfall over north Andhra Pradesh.

Pawan Kalyan urged people in vulnerable and rain-affected areas to remain cautious and follow the instructions issued by the authorities.
