1,839 Kg Cannabis Worth Rs 4 Crore Seized From Three Trucks in Rajasthan, Seven Held

Police have seized 1,839 kg of cannabis, estimated to be worth around Rs 4 crore, from three trucks in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district and arrested seven people in connection with the recovery, officials said on Thursday.

Acting on specific information, a police team intercepted the three trucks on the Neemuch-Chittorgarh highway near Ahirpura, officials said. The occupants allegedly attempted to flee after the vehicles were stopped but were intercepted by the police.

During searches of the trucks, police recovered the contraband concealed in 515 packets packed inside 59 sacks. Officials said the cannabis had been hidden behind paint buckets in two of the trucks, while the third consignment was concealed among nursery plants.

According to police, the accused had travelled around 1,500 km and crossed three states before reaching Chittorgarh with the consignment. The three trucks used to transport the cannabis were also impounded.

The arrested persons have been identified as Jagdish Jat (35), Suresh Regar (26), Banshilal Jat (37), Rajkumar alias Raju Mewara Kalal (40), Saddam Sheikh (39), Rajmal alias Raju Jat (30) and Dinesh Lohar (30).

Police are questioning the accused to establish the source and intended destination of the cannabis consignment. Investigators are also trying to identify other people allegedly involved in the trafficking network.
