21st-Floor Noida Tower Engulfed in Flames After Suspected AC Blast Amid Scorching Heat
A massive fire broke out around 8:30 am on Monday in a flat on the 21st floor of Tower 4 at Unnati The Aranya residential society in Sector 119, Noida , triggering panic among nearly 4,000 residents. Preliminary reports suggest the blaze may have been caused by a suspected air conditioner blast , although fire officials said the exact cause will be determined after a detailed investigation. No casualties or injuries were reported.
Six fire tenders rushed to the spot under the supervision of Gautam Buddh Nagar Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar , while police from the Sector 113 Police Station assisted in evacuating residents. Authorities confirmed that no one was trapped and the fire was contained before spreading further. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also took cognisance of the incident and directed officials to monitor relief and rescue operations.
The incident has renewed concerns over a growing number of AC related fires during the ongoing heatwave across Delhi NCR , where air conditioners are operating for prolonged periods under extreme temperatures. Experts say compressors can overheat as they work continuously to remove indoor heat. Dust clogged condenser coils , refrigerant gas leaks, aging components, faulty wiring, damaged capacitors, voltage fluctuations and poor quality servicing can together create conditions that ignite fires.
The Noida blaze follows several similar incidents this year, including a fatal fire in Hauz Khas that claimed the life of a retired IAS officer and the Vivek Vihar fire in Delhi that killed nine people . Additional AC related fires have also been reported from New Friends Colony and other parts of Noida, with electrical faults accounting for a significant share of summer fire emergencies.
Fire safety experts advise servicing air conditioners before peak summer, cleaning coils and filters, inspecting compressors and electrical wiring, maintaining correct refrigerant levels, avoiding counterfeit spare parts and ensuring outdoor units remain well ventilated. As temperatures continue to soar across northern India, the Noida fire serves as a stark reminder that regular air conditioner maintenance and electrical safety checks are essential to prevent potentially deadly residential fires.
