2BHK Housing Event Turns Political as MLA Kaushik Reddy Objects to Remarks

Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy has objected to political criticism being raised during a government programme, urging public representatives to use such platforms to present facts to people rather than engage in political attacks.

The incident occurred during a programme in Kamalapur mandal, where double-bedroom houses constructed during the previous KCR-led government were being formally handed over to beneficiaries. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar were addressing the gathering when Kaushik Reddy intervened and expressed his displeasure over their remarks.

According to Kaushik Reddy, the ministers were making political comments and referring to claims that, he alleged, were not consistent with the facts. Objecting to the tone of the speeches, he said, “Don’t tell lies. Speak the truth. This is not a platform for politics. Tell the people the facts.”

The BRS MLA argued that a government function involving the distribution of houses to beneficiaries should remain focused on the purpose of the programme and the welfare of the people. Instead of political criticism, he said, public representatives should explain the housing initiative, its implementation and the benefits being extended to eligible families.

Kaushik Reddy also stressed that elected representatives have a responsibility to provide people with clear and factual information about government schemes. He maintained that official programmes should not be turned into platforms for political exchanges or allegations.

The remarks come against the backdrop of continuing political differences between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS over welfare schemes implemented during the previous administration. The double-bedroom housing programme remains one of the key welfare initiatives associated with the former government, with political parties frequently differing over its implementation and credit.

Kaushik Reddy called for greater focus on public welfare rather than political criticism, saying government programmes should serve their intended purpose of informing and benefiting citizens. He reiterated that people deserve facts about welfare schemes and their implementation rather than competing political narratives.
