₹3,222 Crore Development Works Launched Across Tirupati Region
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has launched development projects worth ₹3,222 crore in the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) region, laying their foundation stones virtually from the Amaravati Secretariat. He also introduced the ‘Venkatadri’ app, designed to help Tirumala devotees access essential information and services. TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, Executive Officer M. Ravichandra, board members, the Tirupati District Collector and TUDA officials attended the event virtually.
The major initiative focuses on improving pilgrim infrastructure, easing congestion and providing essential services at a single location. An integrated pilgrim township in lower Tirupati will bring accommodation, food, transport, parking and medical facilities together, helping devotees access services more conveniently before proceeding to Tirumala.
At Alipiri, an accommodation complex costing ₹1,332 crore will comprise four blocks with 2,700 rooms and is expected to accommodate around 15,000 devotees daily. A separate ₹160 crore annaprasadam centre will have the capacity to serve 6,000 people at a time.
Transport and parking infrastructure will also receive a major boost. Four pilgrim amenities complexes, costing ₹486 crore, will provide resting facilities for up to 16,000 people at a time. A multi-level parking facility worth ₹311 crore will accommodate 4,500 vehicles, while a ₹90 crore integrated transport terminal will feature 30 bus bays. The township will additionally include a pilgrim experience centre, digital information facilities, emergency medical services and modern security systems.
In another initiative, 5,192 TTD employees will receive house plots in a residential layout being developed across 418 acres. The project includes internal roads, drainage, water supply and electricity infrastructure, with ₹230 crore earmarked for these amenities.
Separately, nine master plan roads will be developed in Tirupati at a cost of ₹242 crore. Three roads will improve connectivity to the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple at Tiruchanur. The proposed network is expected to ease traffic congestion and improve access for pilgrims visiting the city’s major religious destinations.
