4 Injured at Yash’s ‘Toxic’ Pre-Release Event in Hyderabad, Case Registered

Four people, including a student, were injured after a sound box system collapsed during the pre-release event of Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups at Malla Reddy University in Hyderabad, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Saturday night when Yash was addressing a large gathering of fans and students at the university in Medchal-Malkajgiri. According to police, some attendees had climbed onto the stand supporting a flying DJ speaker system to get a better view of the event when the structure suddenly lost balance and collapsed.

Four people fell from the elevated structure and sustained injuries. One student suffered a leg fracture, while three others sustained minor injuries. All four were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, a senior police official said.

Police have registered a case against the institution’s management and the event manager in connection with the incident. Another police-based report said the case relates to causing simple hurt and endangering life, with the organiser and university named in the complaint.

The incident unfolded amid a large turnout of fans who had gathered to see Yash and members of the film’s team. Videos of the sound structure collapsing have also circulated on social media.

Yash briefly stopped his speech after noticing the mishap and asked organisers and fans to check on those affected.

“Is it okay there? Please check... be careful. Are you safe?” the actor asked.

He later noticed another group of fans on an elevated structure and urged them to come down before continuing his address.

Despite the disruption, the event continued. Yash also used the Hyderabad gathering to address criticism surrounding Toxic’s portrayal of women, saying the trailer does not fully represent the film and that audiences will understand its themes better after watching the movie. He defended director Geetu Mohandas, describing the project as bold and path-breaking.

Yash also spoke about the growing reach of Indian cinema and urged youngsters to move beyond North-South divisions, stressing that talent and hard work can overcome linguistic and regional barriers.
