₹650-Crore Health Scam Allegations Trigger BJP-AAP Clash in Delhi Assembly

The first day of the Delhi Assembly monsoon session witnessed heated exchanges between the ruling BJP and the opposition Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) after protests over alleged irregularities in the health sector disrupted proceedings on Friday.

Five AAP legislators Sanjeev Jha, Som Dutt, Vishesh Ravi, Kuldeep Kumar and Jarnail Singh were marshalled out of the House following continued sloganeering and protests by opposition members. The action came after BJP MLAs raised allegations of a ₹650-crore health sector scam and displayed posters demanding accountability over the issue.

The proceedings were disrupted as AAP members countered the allegations by raising slogans demanding the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. The protests led to repeated interruptions, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House until 2 pm.

The session reflected a sharp political confrontation between the two major parties, with both sides accusing each other of corruption and governance failures. The BJP alleged financial and administrative irregularities during the previous AAP-led government’s tenure, claiming that several departments required scrutiny.

In response, the AAP accused the BJP government of corruption and questioned its handling of governance issues since taking charge in Delhi. The party maintained that the allegations raised against it were politically motivated.
