78 Booked After Pune Raid on ‘Project X’ Event, Drugs and Liquor Worth ₹85 Lakh Seized
In a major crackdown on alleged drug use and illegal party activities, Pune Police raided a private event codenamed “Project X” in Tulapur village on Sunday, booking 78 people and seizing ganja, banned smoking products, and liquor collectively valued at around ₹85 lakh .
According to police, the party was attended by 156 people , including 107 men and 49 women . Following the operation, the Loni Kand Police registered cases against 78 individuals under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act .
Officials said the accused include event organisers, bouncers, and individuals allegedly found consuming narcotic substances. The organisers were identified as Yash Chaudhary, Aiman Shiakh, Saif Sayyad, Siddhant Dhuwadi, Dishant Dhuwadi, Ali Pansare, and Avesh Ansari .
Police also found liquor worth ₹9.22 lakh at the venue, which was allegedly being served beyond the permissible hours. Authorities further revealed that three attendees were below 21 years of age , raising concerns over age verification and compliance with regulations governing such gatherings.
The raid was conducted by a team of 15 officers and 65 constables , reflecting an intensified enforcement drive against narcotics-related offences and illegal nightlife activities. Crime Branch officials said some detained persons were later released after being served notices as part of the legal process.
The operation comes amid growing concerns over the rising challenge of drug abuse among young people , particularly at private parties and music events where narcotics are often circulated discreetly. Law enforcement agencies across major cities have increasingly targeted alleged party-drug networks , citing their role in facilitating the distribution and consumption of prohibited substances among youth.
Police officials maintain that sustained surveillance, intelligence-based raids, and stricter enforcement are essential to dismantling such networks and curb the spread of drug abuse. The investigation into the Tulapur party is ongoing, and authorities are examining possible links to wider narcotics supply chains operating in the region.
