7th Kochi Navy Half Marathon to Feature 21.1-km, 10-km and 5-km Runs

The seventh edition of the Kochi Navy Half Marathon will be held at Bolgatty Palace in Kochi on December 13, with the Indian Navy expecting participation from runners and fitness enthusiasts from across Kerala and other parts of the country.

The event, organised with the participation of the Southern Naval Command, will have State Bank of India (SBI) as its title sponsor. It will feature three categories catering to participants with different levels of fitness and running experience the 21.1-km Half Marathon, 10-km Timed Run and 5-km Fun Run.

Addressing a press conference in Kochi, Rear Admiral Prakash Gopalan, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command, said the marathon seeks to encourage people to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle while strengthening the bond between the Indian Navy and the local community.

The event is expected to attract participants from schools, colleges, corporate organisations, running communities and fitness groups, besides professional and recreational runners. Participants are likely to come from Kerala, neighbouring states and other parts of the country.

According to the Defence Spokesperson, the marathon is intended to promote fitness, perseverance and wellness among people across different age groups and fitness levels. The event also provides an opportunity for the Navy to engage with the local population through a large-scale public sporting initiative.

Online registration for the marathon began on September 19, and participants have been offered an early incentive to sign up. A 25 per cent “Super Early Bird” discount will be available to those who complete their registration on or before September 30.

The seventh edition is expected to build on the marathon's growing appeal as a platform combining fitness, community participation and public engagement with the Indian Navy.
