The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday filed a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) against Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, alleging corruption in a Rs 23-crore road repair project and demanding registration of an FIR.

AAP Delhi president Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged irregularities in a PWD tender for road work on the Outer Ring Road in the Tilak Nagar area. He claimed the road was not constructed according to the prescribed specifications and demanded an independent quality audit by a road engineering agency such as the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI).

According to Bharadwaj, a young man was recording a video during Verma's inspection of the road when the minister allegedly snatched his phone and slapped him. The incident reportedly involved 22-year-old Sahib Singh.

“Today, a complaint was filed with the ACB regarding the alleged corruption in the Rs 23 crore tender of the PWD department involving Minister Parvesh Verma,” Bharadwaj told reporters.

He said AAP had been demanding an FIR against Verma for the last three days and alleged that the Delhi Police was instead trying to intimidate party workers.

Bharadwaj said the party would approach the courts if police failed to register an FIR against the minister.

The AAP leader also alleged that police misbehaved with party women councillors who were protesting over the alleged inaction.

Meanwhile, police have registered an FIR against Bharadwaj, AAP's Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh and several party workers for allegedly assaulting a head constable and obstructing him from discharging his duties.

Police have also registered a non-cognisable report (NCR) against Verma over the alleged slapping incident during the road inspection. The minister is a BJP leader.
