AAP leaders Kejriwal, Mann attend Koli community mass wedding in Gujarat

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday attended a mass wedding ceremony involving 151 couples from the Koli community in Bhavnagar , Gujarat .

The event was organised by the Veer Mandhata Koli Samaj, whose president Raju Solanki is also AAP’s national joint secretary. T his was the 12th mass marriage ceremony conducted by the organisation , reflecting the community’s long-standing tradition of collective social welfare initiatives.

Addressing the gathering, Kejriwal praised the Koli community for being at the forefront of charitable and social activities and acknowledged its contribution to Gujarat’s development. He said children from the community are talented, hardworking, and patriotic, and stressed that access to quality education, skill development, and equal opportunities would enable them to progress further.

The former Delhi chief minister also said he would continue to participate in social, religious, and political programmes in Gujarat in the coming days.

Punjab Chief Minister Mann congratulated the organisers and the newly married couples, lauding the Samaj for consistently holding mass weddings that reduce the financial burden on families. He said such initiatives strengthen social harmony and pledged to take part in similar programmes in Gujarat that serve public welfare.

Mass weddings in the Koli community are traditionally organised during the auspicious Hindu marriage seasons , primarily between November and February , after the monsoon, and during April and May , before the onset of the next rainy season. These periods are preferred as they align with favourable dates in the Hindu calendar and are considered suitable for weddings across communities in western India.

The event combined community celebration, social reform, and political outreach, drawing participation from local leaders and residents.
