AAP to Win More Seats Than 2022, Claims Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday expressed confidence that the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would return to power in the 2027 Assembly elections with a stronger mandate, citing the government's welfare initiatives and development programmes as key reasons behind growing public support.
Addressing a Lok Milni public interaction programme in Dharampura village of Mansa district, Mann said the state's progress over the past four years had strengthened people's trust in the government. He claimed that voters were satisfied with the administration's work in sectors such as healthcare, education, electricity, infrastructure and women's welfare .
"The verdict of 2027 is already visible," Mann said, asserting that AAP would secure more seats than it did in the 2022 elections.
The chief minister also launched a sharp attack on opposition parties, including the Shiromani Akali Dal, Congress and BJP, alleging that they had united against AAP because they could not challenge its governance record. He further accused political rivals of spreading misinformation and using AI-generated fake videos to tarnish his image.
On Punjab's river water dispute, Mann reiterated that his government would continue to protect the state's interests and would not allow any diversion of Punjab's share of water.
Highlighting welfare measures, Mann said more than 90 per cent of households were benefiting from free electricity, while farmers were receiving daytime power supply. He also cited the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna , which offers cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh per family , and announced that financial assistance for women would begin from July 1 .
According to Mann, the initiatives are aimed at strengthening social welfare, improving public services and accelerating Punjab's development.
