Aastha Spintex Expands Manufacturing Footprint with Falcon Acquisition
Days after making its stock market debut, Aastha Spintex Ltd has announced the acquisition of Falcon Yarns , marking a major milestone in its expansion strategy. The deal will more than double the Gujarat-based company's manufacturing capacity, enabling it to meet rising customer demand while strengthening its position in India's rapidly evolving cotton yarn industry .
The acquisition will increase Aastha Spintex's annual spinning capacity from 7,700 metric tonnes (MT) to 17,457 MT , while its spindle capacity will jump from 25,920 to 61,824 . Falcon Yarns operates a modern spinning facility in Gujarat with 35,904 installed spindles and an annual production capacity of 9,757 MT , providing Aastha Spintex with an immediately operational manufacturing base.
Managing Director Divyang Jashwant Patel described the acquisition as a strategic step aligned with the company's long-term vision of building a larger and more efficient manufacturing platform. The company said the expanded production base will improve operational efficiency, support growing customer orders and enhance its integrated manufacturing capabilities.
The acquisition assumes greater significance as it was the primary objective of Aastha Spintex's ₹170-crore Initial Public Offering (IPO) . A substantial portion of the IPO proceeds has been earmarked to fund the Falcon Yarns acquisition and strengthen working capital. The announcement comes just days after the company was listed on stock exchanges on July 6 .
Industry observers say the move reflects a broader trend of consolidation in India's textile sector , where manufacturers are increasingly acquiring existing facilities instead of setting up new plants. Purchasing an operational spinning mill allows companies to expand production immediately, avoiding the higher costs, longer construction timelines and execution risks associated with greenfield projects.
The acquisition also comes at a favourable time for the domestic textile industry. Global apparel brands are increasingly diversifying their sourcing under the "China+1" strategy , creating fresh opportunities for Indian manufacturers. Government initiatives such as the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme and PM MITRA Mega Textile Parks are further encouraging investments in modern textile infrastructure.
With Gujarat already serving as one of India's largest cotton and textile hubs, the acquisition positions Aastha Spintex to capitalize on growing domestic and export demand. The expanded manufacturing footprint is expected to improve economies of scale, strengthen supply-chain efficiencies and enhance the company's ability to serve larger customers in an increasingly competitive global textile market.
