Abhishek Sharma Reclaims No. 1 T20I Batter Spot, Marco Jansen Tops Test Rankings
India's Abhishek Sharma has reclaimed the No. 1 position in the ICC Men's T20I batter rankings following a match-winning century against New Zealand, while South Africa's Marco Jansen has risen to the top of both the Test bowling and all-rounder rankings for the first time in his career.
Abhishek regained the top spot after scoring a blistering 113 off 38 balls, reaching his century in just 35 deliveries during the third T20I in Wellington on Tuesday. His explosive innings helped India secure a six-wicket victory and clinch the series. He displaced teammate Ishan Kishan, who had taken the No. 1 position in July following impressive performances in Ireland. Abhishek first reached the summit in July 2025, overtaking Australia's Travis Head.
Meanwhile, Jansen's outstanding performance against Australia in the second ICC World Test Championship contest in Gqeberha propelled him to the top of two Test rankings. The 26-year-old left-arm pacer contributed 85 runs and claimed a match-turning five-wicket haul in Australia's first innings.
Jansen climbed 13 places to 56th in the Test batting rankings, rose five positions to overtake Australia's Mitchell Starc as the leading Test bowler, and displaced India's Ravindra Jadeja as the top Test all-rounder. Jadeja had held the all-rounder position for more than four years. Jansen's rise comes shortly after former South African great Dale Steyn described him as 'the best cricketer in the world'.
Several other players also improved their positions in the updated rankings. India's Sanju Samson climbed six places to 20th among T20I batters, while New Zealand's Finn Allen moved up to 25th. In T20I bowling, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner rose to seventh, and India's Arshdeep Singh advanced to 15th.
The ongoing ODI tri-series involving Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka also brought changes. England's Ben Duckett and Harry Brook improved their batting positions, while Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi reached sixth among ODI bowlers. Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai climbed to seventh and Namibia's Bernard Scholtz moved to eighth, placing all three in the top 10. Afghanistan veteran Mohammad Nabi rose five places to third in the ODI all-rounder rankings.
