
Actor Rajesh Sharma Hospitalised After Suspected Insect Bite on Film Set
Veteran actor Rajesh Sharma has been admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata after suffering a suspected insect bite while shooting a film starring Prabhas at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad . His family confirmed the development on Wednesday, saying the actor remains under close medical supervision.
According to a statement issued by actor Sudipa Chatterjee on behalf of Sharma's family, the incident occurred after the day's shoot when the actor was interacting with local technicians in a densely vegetated area. During the interaction, he felt what appeared to be an insect bite. As the discomfort initially seemed minor, he did not seek immediate medical attention.
However, around six hours later, Sharma began experiencing severe pain in his right leg , and his condition started deteriorating. Despite the worsening symptoms, he boarded a flight to Kolkata. During the journey, he developed a high fever , prompting concerns about his health.
The actor was admitted to Manipal Hospital, Dhakuria , on Tuesday. His family said he is currently suffering from high fever, breathlessness, and a rapidly spreading infection in his right leg. The infection has reportedly extended from his toes to his knee, with large blisters forming across the affected area.
A senior doctor treating Sharma said it is too early to make a definite assessment of his condition. The actor remains under round-the-clock observation as doctors monitor him for possible complications. Medical experts have warned that there is a risk of a blood clot forming , which could become life-threatening if it travels to the lungs.
The family stated that Sharma is not yet out of danger , and doctors are closely tracking his response to treatment.
