Adrian Meronk Rallies To Win Dunhill Links, Secures Crucial 2027 European Tour Card
Adrian Meronk produced a superb comeback at St Andrews on Sunday, overcoming a two-shot deficit to win the Dunhill Links Championship and secure a full European Tour card for 2027.
The 33-year-old Pole, who plays for LIV Golf, carded a four-under 68 to finish two shots clear and claim his fifth European Tour title. The victory could prove especially valuable with uncertainty surrounding LIV Golf as it goes through Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
Meronk started the final round behind South African Casey Jarvis, who was chasing his third European Tour title of the year. But the Polish star immediately turned up the pressure, making three birdies in his first five holes to erase the deficit.
Jarvis then began to falter. On the par-4 ninth, he left his approach around 15 feet from the hole but ran his birdie putt four feet past before three-putting for a costly bogey.
He dropped another shot on the par-3 11th after his approach came up short and his recovery pitch spun back off the green. Meronk seized the opportunity, sinking an eight-foot birdie putt on the 12th to move two shots ahead.
He stretched the advantage to three on the par-5 14th with a brilliant pitch-and-run that finished just two feet from the hole. Jarvis briefly stayed alive with a 30-foot putt on the 15th but missed a six-foot par putt on the 17th after finding trouble off the tee.
Jarvis finished with a 72 and tied for second with Niklas Norgaard, who shot 68. Meronk's victory was confirmed when Jarvis failed to hole his eagle attempt from the Valley of Sin on the 18th.
“I never usually cry, but this one feels really special,” Meronk said. “I'm lost for words. I'm extremely happy and quite relieved.”
Meronk, the 2023 European Tour Player of the Year, joined LIV Golf in 2024 after being left out of Europe's Ryder Cup team. His Dunhill Links triumph now gives him full European Tour status for 2027.
