After Missing at the Box Office, Vanda Devullu Finds New Life on ZEE5

: Vijay Antony's emotionally driven social drama Nooru Saami , released in Telugu as Vanda Devullu , is gearing up for a second innings on OTT. After touching audiences in theatres with its heartfelt story but falling short at the box office, the film has now found a digital home, with ZEE5 acquiring its post theatrical streaming rights. An official premiere date is expected to be announced soon.

Written and directed by Sasi , the film marked the much awaited reunion of the filmmaker and Vijay Antony nearly a decade after their blockbuster Pichaikkaran . Interestingly, the title Nooru Saami is also inspired by the popular song from Pichaikkaran , making the collaboration even more nostalgic for fans.

Based on a true incident , Nooru Saami revolves around a widowed mother who dares to rebuild her life by considering remarriage, only to face resistance from her own family and a deeply conservative village. Instead of relying on melodrama, director Sasi delivers an emotional narrative that tackles widow remarriage, family bonds, and social stigma with warmth and sensitivity. Critics particularly praised the film's mature storytelling and Swasika's powerful performance.

Although the film received positive reviews and strong word of mouth, it struggled to convert appreciation into box office collections. Industry observers, however, believe its emotional storytelling and family friendly appeal make it an ideal OTT watch, where such content often enjoys a much wider reach. Even moviegoers on social media have predicted that Nooru Saami could receive the recognition it missed during its theatrical run.

Apart from Vijay Antony and Swasika , the cast includes Ajay Dhishan , Lijomol Jose , Karunas , Sakthi , Kavya Anil , Balaji Sakthivel , Munishkanth , and Aruldoss in key roles. The film is produced by Fatima Vijay Antony and Vijay Antony under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner, while Vijay Antony's late daughter Meera Vijay Antony is credited as the presenter. Balaji Sriram composed the music, with S. B. Darshan Kirlosh handling cinematography and Harish Yuvaraj taking charge of editing. The film also received a UA 13+ certificate before its theatrical release.
