AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has launched a sharp attack on the central government, questioning its response to the reported killing of Indian seafarers in a US military action targeting a commercial vessel near Oman’s coast.

According to official confirmation cited by the Union government, three Indian nationals lost their lives over the past four days in a series of incidents involving commercial ships operating in international waters off Oman . The government has stated that it has taken up the matter strongly with the United States and has demanded an immediate halt to such actions .

Reacting to the development, Owaisi accused the government of failing to adequately respond to the deaths of Indian citizens abroad. In a post on social media platform X, he alleged that while the Prime Minister is quick to engage in public celebrations and political messaging , there has been no visible condemnation of the incident that led to the deaths of Indian sailors.

He questioned what he described as the government’s “silence” on the issue , arguing that the primary duty of any administration is to protect the lives of its citizens, regardless of where they are located. Owaisi also claimed that India’s global response mechanisms appeared weak, suggesting that repeated incidents involving Indians abroad were not being addressed with sufficient urgency.

Expanding his criticism, he referred to broader foreign policy concerns, including the treatment of Indian nationals in conflict zones and their recruitment in foreign militaries, arguing that the government has not been assertive enough in safeguarding their interests . He also said that India should not remain passive when its citizens are affected in international operations.

Taking a political swipe, Owaisi contrasted the situation with the government’s handling of other geopolitical narratives, alleging inconsistency in its public stance . He concluded his remarks by asserting that Indian citizens deserve stronger protection and accountability from those in power.

The Ministry of External Affairs, meanwhile, has said it is closely monitoring the situation and has taken up the matter with the US authorities, reiterating India’s concern over the safety of its nationals involved in maritime operations in international waters.
