Air India Extends Israel-Delhi Flight Suspension Till July 31 Amid West Asia Conflict

Air India on Thursday said it has extended the suspension of its Tel Aviv-Delhi route till July 31 , citing continued geopolitical uncertainties in West Asia.

The airline had initially suspended operations till the end of May , which was later extended till June 30 , before the latest decision to push the suspension further by another month. The carrier first put the route on hold in April , following the escalation of conflict in West Asia.

A senior executive overseeing Air India’s Israel operations told PTI that the schedule amendment was notified on Wednesday evening , adding that flights have been “further suspended till 31 July due to the geopolitical situation.”

The disruption comes amid ongoing tensions in the region that began in late February , with airlines facing rising operational costs due to airspace restrictions and higher fuel expenses. Despite a temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran, uncertainty has persisted, forcing several international carriers to either suspend or limit services to Tel Aviv.

While Israeli airlines such as El Al, Israir, Arkia, and Air Haifa have partially resumed operations, international connectivity remains limited. The suspension has particularly impacted travel options for passengers, including an estimated over 40,000 Indians residing in Israel , many of whom depend on the route for travel to India for work, family visits, or emergency movement.

The reduced flight availability has also led to higher ticket prices and logistical challenges , especially for Indian workers and students in the region.
