Akhil Akkineni’s Lenin Postponed Again, Set for July 10 Release
Just when fans thought the countdown had finally begun, Akhil Akkineni’s much-awaited film Lenin appears to have hit another speed bump. The actor’s comeback vehicle, which was scheduled to arrive in theatres on June 26, is reportedly facing yet another postponement, with industry reports suggesting a new release date of July 10, 2026 . The delay is said to be linked to ongoing post-production work , as the makers continue polishing the film ahead of its theatrical debut.
Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu , Lenin stars Akhil Akkineni and Bhagyashri Borse in the lead roles and is being billed as a rural action drama with romance and emotional storytelling at its core. The film has been carrying considerable expectations, not only because of its village backdrop but also because it marks Akhil’s first release since Agent , making it one of the most closely watched projects in Telugu cinema.
The journey to the big screen has not been smooth. Lenin was initially planned for a May 1 release before being shifted to June 26, reportedly to avoid a box-office clash with Peddi , starring Ram Charan. Now, with reports of another delay surfacing, fans may have to wait a little longer to see the film on the big screen.
Interestingly, the film’s promotional campaign has steadily built intrigue. Bhagyashri’s character, Bharathi , was introduced through striking posters, including one that showcased her in an unusual warrior-inspired look, sparking discussion across social media. The film’s song “VaareVaa VaareVaa” also generated positive early reactions, helping maintain momentum despite the shifting release calendar.
Adding to the excitement, veteran star Nagarjuna Akkineni recently promised audiences they were about to witness a “new Akhil” , hinting at a significant transformation in the actor’s screen presence. With expectations soaring and the makers reportedly prioritising quality over speed, Lenin remains one of Tollywood’s most anticipated releases of the year.
