
Akhil Akkineni's Lenin to Hit Theatres Today, CBFC Trims 32 Seconds of Violent Content
After a three-year hiatus , Akhil Akkineni is finally making his big-screen comeback with Lenin , which releases in theatres today. Carrying enormous expectations after Agent , the actor and the film's team have repeatedly expressed confidence that Lenin will mark a fresh chapter in his career, with producer Nagarjuna promising audiences "a new Akhil."
Ahead of its theatrical release, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has certified the film U/A with a final runtime of 2 hours, 38 minutes and 33 seconds (158 minutes, 33 seconds) . The censor report confirms that Lenin is an intense action drama packed with violence , rather than a conventional love story.
To obtain the U/A certificate, the makers implemented several modifications suggested by the CBFC. A dialogue in Scene 15 was modified , violence visuals were reduced , including cut head and headless body shots , certain body part visuals were darkened , close-up shots of bloodshed and violence were trimmed , and stabbing visuals were toned down by darkening the frames to reduce their graphic impact. Overall, around 32 seconds of violent content was altered or removed.
Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu , Lenin stars Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead alongside Pramod Panju, Sivaji, Brahmaji, Sunil, and Easwari Rao in pivotal roles. The film is jointly produced by Nagarjuna Akkineni and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi under Manam Enterprises, Sithara Entertainments, and Annapurna Studios , while Thaman has composed the music. Leon Britto handles cinematography, with editing by Naveen Nooli .
Adding to the excitement, Jr NTR has lent his voice to the film, further boosting pre-release buzz among fans. With no paid premieres in India and advance bookings showing encouraging momentum, all eyes are now on whether Lenin can deliver the much-awaited blockbuster comeback that Akhil Akkineni has been waiting for.
