'Akka' Teaser Out, Keerthy Suresh And Radhika Apte Face Off In Netflix Series
The teaser of 'Akka' has grabbed attention with its intense visuals, powerful female characters and intriguing battle for supremacy. Starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte, the upcoming Netflix series promises a gripping gangster drama set in a fictional South Indian kingdom where women hold power.
Produced by YRF Entertainment, the series is set in the 1980s in Pernuru, a fictional kingdom built, governed and protected by generations of women. Unlike conventional gangster dramas that often revolve around male gang leaders, 'Akka' places powerful women at the centre of its criminal underworld, with rivalries threatening to disrupt the established order.
Keerthy Suresh plays Bhawani, a formidable woman who commands authority in Pernuru, while Radhika Apte portrays Rudra, whose arrival challenges the existing power structure. The teaser offers glimpses of their contrasting personalities and the tensions brewing between them, hinting at a dangerous confrontation involving power, loyalty and survival.
The series' premise suggests that an outsider's arrival will challenge the kingdom's matriarchal rule, pushing its powerful sisterhood towards violence and chaos. This central conflict gives the show a distinctive premise, with the clash between Keerthy and Radhika emerging as one of its biggest attractions.
The project also marks an important milestone for Dharmaraj Shetty, who has written the series and makes his directorial debut with it. The supporting cast includes Tanvi Azmi, who joins the two lead actors in bringing this female-led crime saga to life. Aditya Chopra, Akshaye Widhani and Yogendra Mogre serve as executive producers.
The teaser was unveiled on October 17 as a special birthday treat for Keerthy, who turned 34 that day. The series will premiere on Netflix on October 30, 2026, giving viewers a closer look at a fictional world where tradition, ambition and fierce rivalries collide.
With its unusual setting and two compelling performers leading the story, 'Akka' has raised expectations ahead of its digital debut.
