Amaravati to Emerge as World-Class, Deep-Tech Capital: CM Chandrababu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has outlined an ambitious vision to transform Amaravati into a world-class capital city, combining modern infrastructure with sustainability, advanced technology and extensive urban connectivity.

Speaking at a public meeting after inaugurating the Seed Access Road and Steel Bridge, Naidu said Amaravati would be developed as a pollution-free, green and clean-energy city with abundant water resources. He also envisioned the capital becoming a deep-tech knowledge hub, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence and quantum computing, besides plans for a ‘Quantum Valley’.

The Chief Minister said the government was pursuing decentralised development across Andhra Pradesh while strengthening Amaravati as the administrative centre. He said Amaravati, Mangalagiri, Tadepalli, Guntur and Vijayawada would continue to form a key urban cluster in the capital region.

The ₹1,520-crore Seed Access Road, stretching nearly 22 km, connects Dondapadu with NH-16 through Rayapudi, Venkatapalem, Penumaka, Undavalli and Tadepalli. Developed as a 60-metre-wide, nine-lane corridor, it features a dedicated BRTS corridor, service roads, cycle tracks, footpaths and green belts. Drainage, drinking water, gas and electricity infrastructure are also being incorporated.

A 478-metre-long, four-lane steel bridge over the Buckingham Canal at Undavalli connects the Seed Access Road with the Vijayawada-Mangalagiri highway. Naidu said the new link would improve connectivity between Vijayawada and Amaravati and ease traffic pressure on the narrow Karakatta road along the Krishna River.

He said the government was also constructing 34 roads covering around 350 km in a grid pattern from N1 to N17 and linking them with the E3 Seed Access Road. The wider network is being planned with future traffic requirements in mind.

Naidu said the Centre had sanctioned a proposed 190-km Outer Ring Road and 96-km Inner Ring Road for Amaravati. He set 2028 as the target for completing the fully developed capital and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate it.

Recalling the Amaravati farmers’ movement, Naidu said their struggle between 2019 and 2024 would remain part of the capital’s history. He described the Seed Access Road as the “Rajamargam” of Amaravati, saying it marked the beginning of a larger transformation.

Calling for public participation in the ‘Swarna Andhra 2047’ vision, Naidu urged people from all sections to contribute to the state’s development. He also invited suggestions on Amaravati’s future and expressed hope that it would eventually emerge as the economic capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Later, he inspected the MLAs’ and MLCs’ residential complex at Rayapudi, comprising 12 towers and 288 flats. The CRDA formally handed over the complex to the General Administration Department.
