Amit Shah Attends 73rd NEC Plenary, Leaders Pledge Stronger Northeast

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday attended the 73rd Plenary Session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) , where leaders from across the region reiterated their commitment to strengthening development, connectivity and prosperity in the Northeast.

The plenary session brought together governors, chief ministers, deputy chief ministers, policymakers and senior officials from the northeastern states to deliberate on key issues concerning the region's progress.

According to the NEC, the gathering served as a platform for leaders to review developmental priorities and reinforce a shared vision for the Northeast's future. In a post on X, the council said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region ( DoNER ) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia , governors, chief ministers, deputy chief ministers and senior officials assembled ahead of the plenary deliberations.

The council stated that all participants reaffirmed their collective commitment to advancing growth, connectivity and prosperity across the northeastern region through coordinated efforts and sustained cooperation.

Addressing the session, Scindia said the leaders were united in their resolve to build a " stronger and more prosperous Northeast ." He emphasized the importance of collaborative action among the Centre and the northeastern states to accelerate the region's development trajectory.

The North Eastern Council serves as a key regional planning body and plays an important role in promoting balanced economic and social development across the eight northeastern states.
