A total of 48 researchers from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham have been included in the 2026 update of the World’s Top 2% Scientists database, which recognises researchers based on standardised citation indicators across scientific disciplines.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a multi-campus, multidisciplinary deemed-to-be university in India. It offers programmes across fields including engineering, medicine, sciences, business, humanities and other professional disciplines, with research activities spanning several academic areas.

According to figures compiled by the university, 17 researchers were listed in the career-long category and 44 in the single-year category, with 13 researchers appearing in both. The figures represent 48 individual researchers across the two categories.

The database, titled Updated Science-Wide Author Databases of Standardized Citation Indicators, is available through the Elsevier Data Repository and uses citation information from Scopus, which indexes scholarly publications and records how frequently research papers are cited.

The career-long category assesses researchers’ citation impact over their professional careers, with the 2026 update covering data up to the end of 2025. The single-year category measures citation impact based on data for the 2025 calendar year.

Researchers from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham featured in the database work across disciplines such as medicine, engineering, materials science, artificial intelligence, networking and telecommunications, energy and education.

The selection methodology uses a composite citation score that incorporates multiple indicators, including co-authorship and authors’ positions in published research. Scientists qualify if they rank among the top 100,000 worldwide by the composite score or within the top two per cent of their respective scientific subfields.

The database provides separate assessments of long-term research impact and more recent citation performance. Inclusion is based on the specified citation indicators and does not represent a ranking of universities as a whole.

The 2026 update lists researchers from institutions worldwide and is intended to provide standardised indicators for analysing scientific contributions across different fields.
