Andhra Archer Dhiraj Wins Two Golds at World Cup: Governor, CM Extend Congratulations

Andhra Pradesh's rising archery star Dhiraj Bommadevara has earned accolades from across the state after delivering a standout performance at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Antalya, Turkey, where he secured two gold medals for India.

Recognising the significance of the achievement, Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu extended their congratulations to the young archer on Monday, describing his success as a moment of pride for both the state and the country.

Dhiraj claimed his maiden World Cup gold medal in the men's recurve individual event, marking a major milestone in his international career. He followed it up with another impressive performance in the mixed team recurve competition, joining forces with Kumkum Mohod to capture a second gold and reinforce India's growing stature in world archery.

In a statement issued by Lok Bhavan , Governor Abdul Nazeer commended Dhiraj for his exceptional achievement in both the individual and mixed team categories. He said the archer's success had brought honour to Andhra Pradesh and India, and expressed hope that he would continue to scale new heights in the years ahead.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu also lauded Dhiraj's achievement, noting that the Indian archer defeated highly rated South Korean competitor Lee Woo-seok in the final to clinch the individual title. The Chief Minister described the victory as a reflection of Dhiraj's extraordinary skill, determination and competitive spirit .

Naidu said winning two gold medals at a single World Cup event was an outstanding accomplishment and a source of immense pride for Andhra Pradesh. He also congratulated Kumkum Mohod and the Indian archery team for their impressive performances, expressing confidence that they would continue to bring glory to the nation on the global stage.

Dhiraj's double-gold feat in Turkey is being celebrated as one of the most notable achievements by an Andhra Pradesh athlete in recent years, further establishing him as one of India's brightest talents in international archery.
