Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Weather Today: IMD Forecasts Monsoon Showers and Cooler Skies
The southwest monsoon has firmly settled over both Telugu states, and the India Meteorological Department forecasts a lively spell of rain bearing weather for June 16, part of a broader wet wave sweeping across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Bihar as well.
In Andhra Pradesh , coastal districts including Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, East Godavari, West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, and Guntur are likely to witness isolated heavy rainfall continuing through June 18, while Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Anakapalli also remain on watch. Rayalaseema , covering Bapatla, Palnadu, Prakasam, and Nellore , faces strong surface winds alongside scattered showers. The capital Amaravati has been flagged by IMD for real time monitoring through the Mausam app, while Vijayawada can expect a generally cloudy sky with thundershowers, a minimum of 26 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 34 degrees. Tirupati , a key travel and pilgrimage hub, is also likely to see cloudy conditions with light showers and temperatures hovering between 25 and 33 degrees.
Over in Telangana , the monsoon trough passing near Hyderabad and Bhadrachalam signals intensifying rainfall, with the heaviest spell expected between June 18 and 20. Hyderabad itself will see cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms on June 16, temperatures ranging roughly between 24 and 32 degrees , offering a refreshing dip from the earlier summer heat. Districts such as Bhadradri Kothagudem, Karimnagar, and Warangal should also brace for similar wet conditions.
The wet spell is expected to persist through June 20 across both states, so residents should plan accordingly. Authorities continue to advise caution during thunderstorms, urging people to avoid sheltering under trees, stay away from open fields and water bodies, and steer clear of low lying roads and underpasses prone to flash floods. Farmers and outdoor laborers are especially urged to secure crops and livestock during peak storm hours.
With the monsoon firmly active, both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are set for a refreshing yet unpredictable week of weather ahead.
