Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan Undergoes Successful Shoulder Surgery in Mumbai
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan underwent a successful right shoulder surgery at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on Saturday, bringing relief to his supporters and well-wishers across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Jana Sena Party, medical examinations had revealed serious rotator cuff injuries in both shoulders . Based on the diagnosis, doctors advised immediate surgical intervention on the right shoulder.
The procedure was performed by a team led by renowned orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala . Doctors said the operation was particularly complex because, in addition to the rotator cuff injury, Kalyan was also suffering from an avulsion fracture in the shoulder . The surgery lasted for nearly three and a half hours and was completed successfully.
Following the operation, Pawan Kalyan was shifted to a recovery room and is currently recuperating under close medical supervision. The Deputy Chief Minister’s Office said he is recovering from the effects of anesthesia and his condition remains stable. Medical sources indicated that a second surgery on the left shoulder may be planned after about two months, depending on his recovery.
The shoulder injuries reportedly date back to 2016 . Over the years, extensive political activities, public meetings, outreach programmes, long tours, and frequent interactions with supporters are believed to have aggravated the condition. Despite enduring persistent pain, he continued to remain active in public life and political engagements.
The full extent of the injuries came to light during medical evaluations conducted before a nasal surgery in April this year. Doctors then identified severe rotator cuff damage and muscle tears in both shoulders , leading to the decision to proceed with corrective treatment.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu wished Pawan Kalyan a speedy recovery. In a message on X, he expressed hope that the Deputy Chief Minister would regain full health soon and return to his official responsibilities at the earliest.
