Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the country’s leading state in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data Analytics (BDA) skill training under the Centre’s FutureSkills PRIME programme, with 1,08,895 candidates completing certifications in these two emerging technology areas.

According to data released by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on August 12, more than 1.5 lakh candidates in Andhra Pradesh have registered for and undergone AI and BDA training over the past three years. Of them, 1,08,895 have completed certification, placing the state ahead of other states in these categories.

FutureSkills PRIME is aimed at strengthening India’s technology workforce through skilling, reskilling and upskilling in emerging fields. Besides AI and BDA, the programme covers Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, blockchain, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).

In Andhra Pradesh, more than 4.3 lakh candidates have registered or participated in training across these emerging technology domains. AI and BDA alone account for more than 2.1 lakh participants, underlining the growing interest in advanced digital skills among the state’s youth and technology workforce.

Nationally, FutureSkills PRIME has recorded over 34 lakh registrations. More than 23 lakh candidates have undergone training, while around 13 lakh have completed training or certification. The Ministry said 86% of participants belong to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, demonstrating the programme’s reach beyond India’s major technology centres.

The initiative is being implemented by MeitY in partnership with NASSCOM, with the objective of preparing workers and young people for rapidly evolving technology-driven industries.

Officials believe Andhra Pradesh’s expanding pool of digitally skilled professionals could help attract foreign investment, technology companies and specialised tech hubs. The growing expertise in AI and related fields is also expected to support plans to develop Visakhapatnam as a major AI and IT hub and Amaravati as a modern technology capital.

With emerging technologies reshaping employment and industry, Andhra Pradesh’s performance under FutureSkills PRIME strengthens its position as a potential destination for technology-led growth and innovation.
