Anurag Kashyap Joins Chiranjeevi’s Kaaka in a Pivotal Role

Anurag Kashyap has joined the cast of Chiranjeevi’s upcoming Telugu action entertainer Kaaka, directed by Bobby Kolli. The filmmaker-actor has come on board in a powerful and pivotal role, with the makers sharing a behind-the-scenes picture of Kolli narrating a scene to Kashyap from the ongoing Hyderabad schedule.

Director Bobby Kolli welcomed Kashyap to the project, saying his presence would add another intense layer to the film. However, the makers have not yet revealed details about his character, keeping his role under wraps. Kashyap has recently been taking up acting assignments in South Indian cinema and made his Telugu acting debut with Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit – A Love Story.

Kaaka marks the second collaboration between Chiranjeevi and Bobby Kolli after their successful 2023 film Waltair Veerayya. The film is being produced by Venkat K Narayana under KVN Productions. The project was officially titled Kaaka on Chiranjeevi’s 71st birthday in August, when the makers also unveiled a title glimpse introducing the actor in a striking new avatar.

The glimpse introduced Chiranjeevi as Supervisor Satyam, associated with Ammaji Aqua Industries in Ravulapalem, while later reports revealed that the actor had described his character as Kadiri Kalidas. The teaser initially presents him as a seemingly ordinary worker in the aquaculture industry before shifting into an intense action world involving guns and violence.

The film is also expected to combine its action elements with family emotions and drama. Anaswara Rajan plays a prominent role and has been introduced as Ammulu Paapa, while Nivetha Pethuraj, Sunil, Getup Srinu and Rachita Ram are also part of the cast.

Production is currently progressing in Hyderabad, with Kashyap participating in the ongoing shoot. Reports indicate that the first half has already been completed, while the remaining portions are being filmed alongside post-production work. S Thaman is composing the music and background score, with Vijay Karthik Kannan handling cinematography and Antony L Ruben editing.

Kaaka is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 13, 2027, during the Sankranthi festival. With Chiranjeevi and Bobby Kolli reuniting, Anurag Kashyap’s addition has added another layer of curiosity around the film ahead of its release.
