AP Government Misusing CMRF Funds, Alleges YSRCP Leader Ashok Kumar

The YSR Congress Party has alleged that the TDP-led coalition government in Andhra Pradesh is misusing funds from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) and diverting money meant for poor patients to hospitals allegedly linked to ruling party leaders.

Speaking to the media at the party’s central office in Tadepalli, YSRCP Addanki constituency in-charge Ashok Kumar accused the government of putting the lives of economically weaker patients at risk through alleged irregularities in the management of CMRF funds.

Ashok Kumar questioned why details of Letters of Credit and reimbursements under the CMRF were removed from the official website after the coalition government came to power. He alleged that funds were being diverted through fake patient records, fraudulent Letters of Credit and commissions ranging between 10% and 20%.

He also referred to allegations of irregularities at a hospital run by TDP MLA Chadlavada Aravinda Babu, and demanded that the government go beyond issuing notices and conduct random verification of patient records to establish whether the claims made for CMRF assistance were genuine.

The YSRCP leader further alleged that the government had weakened the Aarogyasri health insurance scheme by leaving network hospitals with outstanding dues of more than Rs 3,000 crore. He claimed that the government was releasing CMRF funds at higher rates even for treatments covered under Aarogyasri.

According to Ashok Kumar, the government spent Rs 1,298 crore from the CMRF during a 22-month period, with nearly Rs 1,000 crore allegedly going towards treatments that fall under the Aarogyasri scheme. In comparison, he claimed that the previous YSRCP government spent Rs 897 crore between 2019 and 2024.

He also alleged that beneficiaries were being denied CMRF assistance without recommendation letters from TDP leaders and claimed that even basic medicines were unavailable at government hospitals.

Ashok Kumar demanded the immediate release of a white paper on CMRF expenditure, an independent forensic audit of the fund and a transparent tracking mechanism linking every payment directly to the beneficiary.
