AP Steps Up Centre Coordination on Essential Commodities, Says Minister Nadendla Manohar

Andhra Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar held talks with key officials in the national capital on measures to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential commodities, keep prices affordable and strengthen consumer protection mechanisms in the state.

During his Delhi visit, Manohar met the Managing Director of the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India (NCCF) and reviewed issues related to the supply of essential goods in Andhra Pradesh. The discussions covered the availability of commodities in the market, prevailing price trends and steps needed to ensure consumers can access basic goods without difficulty.

The minister stressed the need for effective measures to maintain adequate supplies and control prices, particularly to safeguard consumers from disruptions in the availability of essential commodities. He said ensuring access to quality goods at reasonable prices remains a key priority for the state government.

Manohar also underlined the importance of greater coordination with central agencies in achieving this objective. He said Andhra Pradesh would work towards expanding cooperation with central government institutions to improve the efficiency of the supply system and respond more effectively to consumer needs.

As part of his engagements in Delhi, Manohar also met Nidhi Khare, Secretary of the Union Consumer Affairs Ministry, for discussions on issues concerning Andhra Pradesh.

The meeting covered several matters relating to food and civil supplies and consumer welfare, with emphasis on issues that have a direct bearing on the availability and affordability of essential commodities.

Both sides discussed the importance of closer coordination between the Centre and the state in addressing consumer-related concerns. The discussions also stressed the need to ensure adequate availability of essential goods and effective price management across Andhra Pradesh.

Manohar expressed the state’s willingness to work closely with the Centre and its agencies to strengthen the system for supplying essential commodities and protecting consumer interests. The minister said continued coordination would be important in ensuring that people receive quality goods at affordable prices and that their interests remain at the centre of the government’s efforts.
