AP Tightens Security, Logistics Ahead of Independence Day Celebrations

The Andhra Pradesh government has stepped up preparations for the 79th Independence Day celebrations, with senior officials conducting an extensive review to ensure the state-level event at the Parade Grounds in Amaravati is held with seamless coordination, robust security and adequate public facilities.

General Administration Department (GAD) Special Chief Secretary J. Shyamala Rao on Wednesday inspected the venue and reviewed the arrangements along with CRDA Commissioner Vijaya Rama Raju, District Collector C.M. Saikanth Varma, and senior officials from various departments.

As the celebrations are expected to be attended by the Chief Minister, Cabinet ministers, members of the judiciary, senior bureaucrats and All India Services officers, the review focused on VIP movement plans, seating arrangements, protocol requirements and venue logistics. Officials were directed to ensure that the printing and distribution of invitation cards are completed well in advance without any procedural lapses.

With thousands of people likely to participate in the state function, the administration has been instructed to make comprehensive arrangements for public convenience. Adequate seating, drinking water, sanitation facilities, medical support, emergency services and uninterrupted power supply will be put in place to ensure a comfortable experience for attendees.

Special emphasis was also laid on traffic and parking management, with officials asked to prepare an integrated mobility plan to regulate vehicle movement and prevent congestion around the venue. Security agencies and civic departments have been asked to work in close coordination to ensure smooth access for both dignitaries and the public.

The meeting also reviewed the progress of departmental tableaux, which will highlight the state's flagship welfare schemes, infrastructure projects and development initiatives during the ceremonial parade. All departments have been instructed to complete the fabrication of their floats and present them during the final full-dress rehearsal on August 13 for inspection and necessary refinements.

Calling for close inter-departmental coordination, J. Shyamala Rao said meticulous planning and timely execution would be crucial to delivering a grand, secure and well-organised Independence Day celebration, reflecting the state's administrative preparedness and commitment to honouring the national occasion.
