AP to Track Officials Through 360-Degree Performance Reviews
In a significant administrative reform aimed at making governance more responsive and citizen-centric, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed government officials across all departments to spend more time among the people and less within office premises. The move is part of a broader effort to strengthen accountability, improve public service delivery, and ensure that government schemes reach beneficiaries effectively.
During a detailed review meeting at the Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) headquarters in Amaravati, the Chief Minister emphasized that governance must be visible on the ground and not remain confined to files and offices. Beginning in July, all officials will be required to undertake field visits for at least three days every week , enabling them to directly assess local issues, monitor development works, and respond to public grievances.
Naidu instructed District Collectors to visit every Assembly constituency a minimum of four times, while constituency nodal officers have been tasked with conducting regular inspections of designated mandals and closely reviewing local conditions. He said direct engagement with citizens would help build trust in the administration and provide officials with a clearer understanding of grassroots challenges.
The Chief Minister also announced the introduction of a 360-degree performance evaluation system for government employees and officers. Under the new framework, officials will be assessed continuously to ensure efficiency, accountability, and responsiveness. Stressing that there should be no room for complacency, Naidu urged departments to identify shortcomings proactively and take corrective action without delay. He also called for regular training programmes to enhance administrative capabilities and encouraged officials to study governance practices followed by Singapore , widely regarded as a global benchmark in public administration and service delivery.
Highlighting the growing role of technology in governance, Naidu revealed that Google has agreed to partner with the Andhra Pradesh government to strengthen data-driven governance initiatives. He noted that advanced digital tools are already being used in certain departments and directed officials to expand the use of data analytics and technology across the government ecosystem. The objective, he said, is to improve transparency, accelerate decision-making, and reduce opportunities for corruption.
The review also focused on public infrastructure and citizen services. Officials informed the Chief Minister that 11,600 potholes had been identified in municipal areas across the state, with nearly 79 percent already repaired . Naidu instructed authorities to complete the remaining road repair works on a war footing, particularly on roads that improve urban-rural connectivity .
In addition, the Chief Minister reviewed the functioning of the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) and proposed a new tracking mechanism that would allow citizens to monitor the status of their complaints in real time. He said greater transparency in grievance handling would improve public confidence and make government departments more accountable.
Senior officials, including Chief Secretary K. Sai Prasad , attended the meeting and discussed implementation plans for the Chief Minister's latest governance directives, which seek to combine technology, field-level monitoring, and administrative accountability to deliver better outcomes for citizens.
