Apple TV Unveils First Look at Hugh Laurie’s Crime Drama ‘The Wanted Man’

Apple TV has unveiled the first-look images and premiere date of ‘The Wanted Man’, an upcoming eight-episode crime drama starring and executive produced by Hugh Laurie.

The series will premiere globally on January 6, 2027, with the first two episodes released together. New episodes will then arrive every Wednesday, with the season finale scheduled for February 17, 2027.

Laurie plays Felix Carmichael, the powerful and elusive head of a notorious British crime syndicate known as The Capital. After remaining largely untouchable for two decades, Carmichael is betrayed by someone within his own organisation and sent to the notorious Staplehurst prison.

With his criminal empire, fortune and family at risk, Carmichael is forced to confront his own violent past while fighting for survival behind bars. He eventually decides that escaping prison is the only way to protect what he has built and seek revenge against the person who betrayed him.

The newly released images offer glimpses of Laurie’s character in prison as well as tense moments involving the wider cast, teasing the series’ themes of betrayal, family, power and revenge.

The ensemble cast includes Thandiwe Newton, Fionn Whitehead, Gina McKee, Hazel Doupe, Elliott Heffernan and Stephen Dillane. Newton is known for projects including ‘Westworld’ and ‘Crash’, while Whitehead has appeared in ‘Dunkirk’ and ‘Emily’. Dillane is recognised for ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘The Hours’.

‘The Wanted Man’ comes from George Kay, the creator, writer and showrunner behind ‘Hijack’ and ‘Lupin’. The series is produced by New Pictures and Kay’s Observatory Pictures, with Kay also serving as an executive producer alongside Willow Grylls and Matt Sandford. David Meanti is the series producer, while Jakob Verbruggen, whose credits include ‘The Fall’, ‘London Spy’ and ‘Dark Matter’, directs the series.

With Hugh Laurie at the centre of a story involving a criminal empire, an internal betrayal and a high-stakes prison escape, ‘The Wanted Man’ is set to bring a new crime thriller to Apple TV’s slate in early 2027.
