APSRTC Plans Large-Scale Promotions, Recruitment Drive
The Andhra Pradesh government has initiated key administrative measures to streamline operations in the State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC), focusing on promotions, recruitment, and resolution of pending employee issues.
At a high-level review meeting held in Amaravati , Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy directed officials to expedite the promotion process for more than 7,500 eligible employees for the 2025–26 cycle. The empanelment process is scheduled for completion by February 20, clearing the way for long-pending career advancements across multiple cadres.
Recruitment Drive to Address Staff Shortage
With the corporation witnessing a steady decline in workforce strength, proposals are being readied to obtain government approval for filling nearly 7,700 vacant posts. Officials informed the Minister that employee numbers have reduced considerably over the past few years and are likely to decline further due to upcoming retirements.
Emphasizing operational efficiency, the Minister called for prioritizing recruitment of drivers, conductors and mechanics to maintain uninterrupted public transport services across the State.
Relief Measures for Medically Retired Staff
The review also covered concerns relating to employees who retired on medical grounds. While some have been provided alternative employment, compensation payments to many others remain pending. The government is examining proposals for releasing the required funds, considering the significant financial implications involved.
Compassionate Appointments in Kadapa
Pending compassionate appointment cases in the Kadapa region also came under discussion. Despite completion of certificate verification, several appointments are yet to be finalized. Officials were instructed to coordinate with district authorities to address procedural delays and fill vacancies in a time-bound manner.
Seniority and Legal Matters
The meeting further reviewed the status of seniority revisions and pending court cases involving APSRTC. Officials were asked to expedite retrieval of service records and work in coordination with the Law Department to ensure timely resolution of legal issues.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to employee welfare and institutional strengthening, the Minister stressed the need for swift action to clear long-pending administrative matters.
