Artificial Rain, Glass Skywalk and River Views: New Tourism Attractions Coming to Statue of Unity

Gujarat is preparing to add two major tourist attractions near the Statue of Unity, with an immersive indoor rainforest and a luxury river cruise on the Narmada set to open on October 31, during the celebrations marking Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.

The two projects, coming up in Ekta Nagar, are expected to offer visitors new experiences beyond the world’s tallest statue, strengthening the region’s appeal as a major tourism destination.

The ₹12-crore rainforest project, spread across 12 acres near the New Gora Bridge, is designed to recreate the atmosphere of a tropical forest. The attraction will feature artificial rainfall generated by 20 towers, waterfalls and bubble fountains, creating an immersive environment for visitors.

An 11-metre glass skywalk, fitted with imported German panels, will provide an elevated experience within the attraction. The indoor environment will maintain temperatures between 25°C and 30°C, while trees from different parts of India will add to the rainforest setting.

Alongside the rainforest, the ₹16-crore Ekta Cruise will offer visitors a different way to explore the Narmada. With a passenger capacity of 600, the vessel will feature seating arrangements, catering facilities and music, positioning it as a leisure attraction for families and tourists.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate both projects on October 31, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.

The additions reflect Gujarat’s broader efforts to expand tourism infrastructure around the Statue of Unity, which has emerged as a prominent destination since its inauguration in 2018. By combining nature-inspired experiences with river-based leisure, Ekta Nagar aims to encourage visitors to spend more time exploring the surrounding region rather than limiting their trips to the monument alone.
