India A have been forced into a squad change for the ongoing tri-series in Sri Lanka after pacer Yudhvir Singh was ruled out with a right rotator cuff injury , prompting the inclusion of Ashok Sharma as his replacement.

The decision was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday. Ashok earned the call-up after an impressive domestic season and a noteworthy stint with Gujarat Titans in the IPL, where he attracted attention with his pace and ability to generate bounce.

According to the BCCI, Yudhvir first experienced discomfort in his right shoulder during a fielding session on June 11 and reported similar pain while bowling on June 13. Following medical evaluation and consultation with a specialist, the board's medical team recommended a structured rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the BCCI's Centre of Excellence.

The injury is a setback for the young pacer, who was hoping to use the tri-series as a platform to strengthen his case for higher honours. Rotator cuff injuries can be particularly challenging for fast bowlers as they affect shoulder stability and bowling efficiency, making a cautious recovery process essential.

Ashok's inclusion presents an opportunity for the Haryana pacer to showcase his abilities in international conditions. His recent performances have highlighted his potential, and selectors will be keen to assess how he adapts to the demands of representative cricket.

India A's campaign in the tri-series has been disappointing so far, with the team suffering consecutive defeats against Afghanistan A and Sri Lanka A . The side, led by Tilak Varma, will be aiming to bounce back and regain momentum in the remaining matches.

The tournament serves as an important development platform for emerging players, offering them exposure to competitive international cricket and an opportunity to impress national selectors ahead of future assignments.

Updated India A Squad:

Tilak Varma (captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad (vice-captain), Priyansh Arya, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Kumar Kushagra (wk), Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Anshul Kamboj, Arshad Khan, Anukul Roy and Ashok Sharma.
