The Khonsa Battalion of the Assam Rifles on Sunday organised a humanitarian outreach programme in Khonsa town of Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district , distributing artificial limbs to specially-abled persons from Tirap and neighbouring Longding districts.

The beneficiaries were identified in coordination with district administrations to ensure that individuals with genuine physical disabilities received assistance. The prosthetic limbs were provided to improve mobility, independence and overall quality of life for the recipients, according to an official statement.

The initiative was conducted under Operation Sadbhavana , a civic action programme of the Assam Rifles aimed at promoting community welfare and socio-economic development in remote and insurgency-affected areas of the Northeast. Officials said the programme was designed to support vulnerable individuals while strengthening ties between the security forces and local communities.

Local residents and community representatives attended the event and expressed appreciation for the initiative. They said the support would help many differently-abled individuals lead more independent and dignified lives.

Officials noted that Tirap district has witnessed several community-oriented initiatives by the force under Operation Sadbhavana, including medical camps and the distribution of assistive devices and other welfare support.

“Through such initiatives, the Assam Rifles continues to contribute towards the socio-economic upliftment and well-being of the local population in Tirap district,” the statement added.
