Atlee Reveals Why Preity Mukhundhan Turned Down Allu Arjun's Raaka
One unexpected revelation has taken social media by storm. Just when actress Preity Mukhundhan is riding high on the success of Blast and gearing up for the release of her romantic entertainer Idhayam Murali (Telugu: Hrudayam Murali ), filmmaker Atlee has disclosed that she was originally supposed to be part of Allu Arjun's highly anticipated magnum opus Raaka .
The surprising revelation came during the Idhayam Murali pre-release event, where Atlee attended as the chief guest. While speaking on stage, the director couldn't stop praising Preity, calling himself a huge admirer of her work. He lauded her acting, dancing skills, screen presence, and relentless dedication , saying she has all the qualities needed to become a top star.
Atlee then dropped the bombshell. He revealed that he had personally approached Preity to play a crucial role in Raaka , his ambitious sci-fi fantasy spectacle starring Allu Arjun. However, the actress was already committed to Idhayam Murali , and the film's shooting schedule completely overlapped with Raaka's production timeline. With no possibility of adjusting the dates, Preity had no choice but to walk away from what could have been one of the biggest projects of her career.
The coveted role was eventually offered to Femina George , although the makers have deliberately kept her character under wraps, adding even more mystery to the film. Fans are now wondering what kind of role Preity would have played had she joined the project.
Interestingly, Atlee's speech had another emotional moment. The blockbuster director confessed that one of his biggest regrets after delivering Raja Rani was not directing another full-fledged love story. He praised Idhayam Murali director Aakash Baskaran for bringing an emotional romantic drama to the big screen and wished the entire team tremendous success.
Despite missing Raaka , Preity's career is only moving upward. After earning applause with Blast , she has become one of the fastest-rising young actresses in South cinema. The actress also has multiple exciting projects lined up, making her one of the industry's busiest stars.
Meanwhile, Idhayam Murali is all set for a July 10, 2026 theatrical release. Directed by Aakash Baskaran , the coming-of-age romantic drama stars Atharvaa in the lead alongside Kayadu Lohar , Preity Mukhundhan , Fahadh Faasil , Niharika NM , Natty Subramaniam , and others. Music is composed by Thaman S , who also appears in the film, making it one of the most anticipated romantic entertainers of the season.
