Andhra Pradesh is gearing up for a grand celebration of International Yoga Day 2026 , with yoga guru Baba Ramdev set to join Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for a series of major yoga events on June 20 and 21 as part of the state's ambitious Yogandhra initiative .

Ramdev will first participate in a special programme near the historic Undavalli Caves on June 20 before joining the state-level Yoga Day celebrations in Vijayawada on June 21. The events are expected to draw thousands of participants and highlight the state's efforts to promote yoga as a way of life.

Reviewing preparations at the Secretariat, Naidu emphasized that yoga should become an integral part of every household and evolve into a mass movement across Andhra Pradesh. He directed officials to align yoga activities with the state's Sanjeevani public health programme , underscoring the role of preventive healthcare in improving overall well-being.

The Chief Minister stressed that the vision of "Yoga for Every Household" should remain at the heart of the Yogandhra campaign. He called for extensive public participation and instructed officials to ensure smooth arrangements and adequate facilities for all attendees during the Yoga Day events.

In a move aimed at strengthening the yoga ecosystem, Naidu proposed special awards for outstanding yoga master trainers from next year. He also sought the preparation of a comprehensive year-long action plan focused on expanding yoga awareness and participation throughout the state.

Recognising the growing burden of lifestyle and chronic diseases, the Chief Minister directed officials to develop specialised therapeutic yoga programmes that can support people dealing with long-term health conditions and wellness challenges.

The main state-level celebration will be held at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada, where arrangements are being made for nearly 5,000 to 6,000 participants . Authorities have also prepared contingency plans to shift the event to the Ambedkar Kala Vedika with around 1,000 participants in case of adverse weather conditions.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that Baba Ramdev will arrive in Andhra Pradesh on June 19 and is scheduled to meet him before the Yoga Day programmes begin.

The scale of the Yogandhra campaign has been significant. Around 2.6 lakh trainers have already been trained, while registrations for Yoga Day activities have crossed the one-crore mark . On June 21, yoga programmes will be conducted simultaneously at nearly 1.33 lakh centres across the state.

Adding another dimension to the initiative, Naidu will also release the 'Yoga @ Destination' calendar , outlining yoga-themed activities and destinations planned in the lead-up to next year's International Yoga Day, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh's vision of making yoga a cornerstone of public health and community wellness.
