Two of Indian cinema’s most beloved legends Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan have reunited on the set of the highly anticipated sequel to the 2024 sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD , sparking excitement across the film fraternity and fan communities.

The sequel’s principal photography has officially begun in Hyderabad, with Bachchan and Kamal Haasan sharing candid moments and embraces amidst cranes, lights, and cameras, their first onscreen collaboration since the 1985 action drama Geraftaar . Bachchan, reprising his role as the immortal warrior Ashwatthama , shared behind-the-scenes photos showing him alongside Haasan, who returns as Supreme Yaskin , a character with a deeper arc in the sequel.

The first Kalki film, directed by Nag Ashwin , was a pan-Indian phenomenon upon its release in 2024. Blending Hindu mythology with futuristic sci-fi in the dystopian world of Kashi in the year 2898 AD, it featured Prabhas , Deepika Padukone , and Disha Patani in key roles. The story revolved around the mission to protect SUM-80 and her unborn child believed to be Kalki, the final incarnation of Vishnu and the film grossed over ₹1,000 crore worldwide.

The sequel is expected to explore the mythic universe further, with Prabhas joining the production later in the schedule. Speculation about new cast additions is already building, promising an even grander cinematic experience for audiences.

Adding to the excitement, Kamal Haasan is also set to team up with Rajinikanth for an upcoming high-profile project. This marks one of the most eagerly awaited collaborations in Indian film history, bringing together two South Indian superstars whose careers have defined generations of cinema lovers. Production details are being closely guarded, but anticipation among fans is already at fever pitch.
