Bachupally Flyover Ready For Opening, Promises Smoother Commutes
Commuters in north-west Hyderabad are set to benefit from a major infrastructure upgrade as the newly constructed Bachupally Flyover is scheduled to be inaugurated on June 8 by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy .
The flyover has been developed to address the growing traffic congestion in one of the city's rapidly expanding residential and commercial corridors. With Hyderabad witnessing a steady rise in vehicle numbers, roads connecting the IT hub and surrounding suburbs have been experiencing frequent bottlenecks, particularly during peak hours.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 71 crore , the four-lane flyover stretches approximately 1.3 kilometres across the busy Bachupally crossroads. The project has been designed to streamline traffic movement and reduce delays for thousands of daily commuters who travel through the area for work, business and other activities.
The junction serves as an important link for several fast-growing neighbourhoods, including Miyapur, Nizampet, Mallampet and Bowrampet . Heavy traffic generated by office commuters, local residents and commercial vehicles has long resulted in significant congestion at the intersection, often leading to extended travel times.
Officials believe the new flyover will substantially improve traffic flow by enabling uninterrupted movement across the junction. The signal-free corridor is expected to reduce waiting times, improve road safety and enhance connectivity between key residential areas and employment centres.
The project is also expected to provide relief to a large number of IT professionals who commute daily between the city’s western technology corridor and nearby residential localities. By bypassing one of the region’s busiest intersections, motorists are likely to experience smoother and faster journeys.
With the flyover ready for public use, the state government hopes the project will strengthen Hyderabad’s urban transport network and support the mobility needs of the city’s expanding population. The inauguration marks another step in ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure and tackle congestion in emerging growth corridors across the city.
