Badshah pulls ‘Tateeree’ after backlash, issues public apology
Rapper Badshah has removed his recently released Haryanvi track ‘Tateeree’ following widespread criticism over its lyrics. The song, which dropped on March 7, drew immediate complaints for lines such as “Aya Badshah doli chadhane, inn sabki ghodi banane,” which many felt sexualized young girls through suggestive wordplay paired with innocent visuals.
The controversy escalated quickly, prompting the Haryana State Commission for Women to summon the rapper for questioning. In addition, the Panchkula cyber police filed an FIR under laws preventing the indecent representation of women and issued a Look Out Circular to ensure Badshah did not leave the country during the investigation.
Responding promptly, Badshah issued a video apology , clarifying that the track was meant to reflect a competitive rap style aimed at rivals , not to target women or children. He emphasized that he respects public sentiments and stated that nothing is above the feelings of his people . In line with his apology, the rapper removed the song from all platforms.
This incident marks yet another instance where popular music faces scrutiny for content deemed inappropriate or offensive , reflecting the growing public sensitivity around media representation of women.
