BCCI's Double Recruitment Drive: Who Will Fix Women's Fielding and Lead Men's Team Physio Unit?
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for two key support staff positions, seeking a new fielding coach for the women’s cricket team and a head physiotherapist for the men’s side. The deadline for submitting applications for both positions is November 16, the Board announced on Tuesday.
The recruitment comes as the BCCI looks to strengthen its support staff across both teams, with fielding standards in the women’s side remaining an area of concern and the men’s team requiring a replacement for its former head physiotherapist.
Munish Bali served as the women’s team’s fielding coach during its most recent assignment, a home white-ball series against Zimbabwe. However, fielding, particularly dropped catches, has been a longstanding concern for the team, making the appointment an important one ahead of its upcoming international commitments.
According to the BCCI’s job description, the new fielding coach will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive training programmes to build a world-class fielding unit. The role will involve conducting fielding sessions during practice and matches, providing individual coaching to improve players’ skills and assessing their performances across different match situations.
Meanwhile, the Board is seeking a successor to Kamlesh Jain, who resigned as the men’s team’s head physiotherapist in September.
The BCCI has specified that candidates applying for the men’s team position must have at least 10 years of experience in physiotherapy services. They should also have experience working with elite athletes or professional teams, preferably in high-performance sporting environments.
Both appointments are expected to play an important role in strengthening the teams’ support structures and improving their preparation for international cricket.
