Bellingham Leads Real Madrid To 4-0 Rout As Chelsea Edge Brighton 4-3

Jude Bellingham continued his superb start to the season as Real Madrid made it three victories from three matches under Jose Mourinho, cruising to a 4-0 win over newly promoted Malaga in La Liga on Sunday.

Bellingham once again proved central to Madrid’s attacking display, scoring the opening goal and setting up another as the Spanish giants produced a commanding performance at home.

The England midfielder opened the scoring after bursting past two Malaga defenders before firing past goalkeeper Alfonso Herrero from a tight angle. The goal prompted supporters inside the stadium to serenade him with the Beatles classic “Hey Jude”.

Bellingham soon had a hand in Madrid’s second goal as his effort was kept out, only for Malaga defender Carlos Pugas to inadvertently turn the rebound into his own net.

Kylian Mbappe then extended Madrid’s advantage before the half-hour mark, volleying home from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cross. It was Alexander-Arnold’s first start at right-back this season after Denzel Dumfries had featured in Madrid’s opening two matches.

Bellingham struck the post after the break and continued to threaten before substitute Arda Guler completed the rout late on, finishing after Vinicius Junior’s unselfish contribution.

Earlier in England, Chelsea survived a seven-goal thriller against Brighton, winning 4-3 to maintain their perfect start to the Premier League season.

Cole Palmer was among Chelsea’s standout performers, but new manager Xabi Alonso will have concerns over his side’s defensive display and the injury suffered by midfielder Moises Caicedo.

Elsewhere in Europe, Freiburg defeated Werder Bremen 4-1 in the Bundesliga, while Inter Milan were due to visit Cagliari after beginning their Serie A campaign with a 4-1 victory over Monza. Napoli were scheduled to host Como, while Marseille travelled to Monaco for a French league derby.

In Belgium, Gent defeated Club Brugge 2-1 with Ibrahima Cisse scoring an 85th-minute winner in a fiery contest that saw both teams finish with 10 men.
