A 39-year-old advocate, Priyanka , has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of her five-year-old daughter, Vennela , in a case that has shocked the city. Her live-in partner Mohan G , identified by police as the prime accused , was arrested earlier.

The child was found dead on March 25 , but the case gained momentum after the girl’s father filed a complaint on June 4 , citing suspicious circumstances and inconsistencies in Priyanka’s explanations.

According to police, Mohan allegedly confessed to smothering and assaulting the child inside a car . Investigators are now examining whether Priyanka had prior knowledge of the crime or was involved in a broader conspiracy.

Priyanka was arrested from a homestay in Sakleshpur , where she had reportedly fled after the FIR was registered. She is accused of moving from Bengaluru to Mysuru before attempting to evade arrest.

The case came under scrutiny after the father pointed out contradictory versions of the child’s death. In one account, Priyanka said the child had eaten biryani and was later found dead. In another, she claimed the child was left asleep in an air-conditioned car while she and Mohan celebrated a birthday outing in Kolar.

Police say these inconsistencies, along with post-mortem findings, raised suspicion of foul play. Investigators are also probing possible motives, including allegations that Priyanka was dissatisfied with the child’s complexion , though this remains unverified and under investigation.

Authorities are continuing to reconstruct the sequence of events and determine the exact motive and involvement of each accused.
