Bhagwant Mann follows mentor’s path, seeks naturopathy care amid health concerns

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has left for Bengaluru to undergo a seven-day naturopathy treatment, days after being discharged from hospital following repeated episodes of exhaustion, sources said on Thursday.

Mann departed on Wednesday evening after inaugurating the first phase of reconstruction and relining of the Ferozepur Feeder Canal . He is staying at a private naturopathy and wellness centre in Bengaluru.

The move has attracted political attention as the chief minister is following a treatment path similar to his political mentor and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal, who has earlier opted for naturopathy for health recovery.

Mann, 52, was first admitted to a private hospital in Mohali on February 15 after he complained of fatigue while in Sangrur. He was discharged the next day and resumed official engagements, including participation in the state government’s anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ in Moga.

However, he reportedly experienced exhaustion again later that day and was re-admitted for medical observation . Doctors discharged him on February 19 and advised rest.

Opposition leaders have questioned the chief minister’s frequent hospitalisation and the timing of his wellness retreat, with some making pointed remarks on whether Mann would be able to follow the strict discipline of naturopathy , which usually involves abstinence from alcohol and adherence to a regulated diet and routine.

The chief minister’s office has described the Bengaluru visit as a preventive health measure aimed at improving overall fitness and managing stress after a demanding schedule of official work.

Officials said Mann will remain in touch with senior administrators during the treatment period and that routine government functioning will continue in his absence.

The development comes amid growing political scrutiny over the chief minister’s health and his ability to maintain an intense schedule while leading the state’s governance and anti-drug initiatives.
